3 TIPS TO STYLE THE GROOM’S
WEDDING ENSEMBLE

The groom's needs are often overlooked during wedding preparations. It doesn't have to be this way.
Give yourself a treat with a visit to a tailor or menswear style advisor. Plan your wedding ensemble with these three tips in mind.

DRESS TO FIT YOUR WEDDING VENUE

For formal dinner banquet, go for a 100% wool or wool blend tuxedo suit tailored with satin trims on the lapel or opt for a tailored white double breasted jacket teamed with black wool trousers for an evening of eleganza.

For lunch reception or smart casual wedding theme, a regular tailored suit in shades of grey or blue will give you that outstanding look to match your lovely bride. Wear a bow tie to look different from your guests and groomsmen.

Singapore has lovely greenery for outdoor weddings. But, the hot and humid climate is a formidable challenge for the groom to keep cool. We suggest to use 100% linen or half lined cotton for the tailored suit as this is lightweight and extremely breathable.

YOUR BODY TYPE IS AN IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION

Every man’s body proportions are different. Do not compromise on the fit for this important occasion. Get a suit tailored to your measurements instead of renting or getting something off the rack.

The size of lapel is an important factor - be sure to pick a lapel width according to your build and not just to follow trend.

The number of fastening buttons on your jacket can help to elongate your torso and balance out your body proportions. A seasoned tailor will evaluate your body proportions and give you the appropriate advice.

DON’T FORGET YOUR GROOMSMEN

Your brothers have been with you through thick and thin. Consider to tailor matching suits for them or get them dressed in similar colour shirts. Consider matching accessories such as flower pins, ties, bow ties, or even socks so you and your groomsmen look coordinated.

Your accessories should reflect your personality. For a romantic touch, add a lapel flower that matches your bride’s bouquet for the day event. For the dinner event, add a pocket square that’s made from the same fabric as your bride’s gown.
