300,000 Mask for Migrants Challenge
300,000 Mask for Migrants
#CYC300kMaskChallenge
The Cause.
In this pandemic, 18 dormitories have been designated as COVID-19 isolation areas. This means that thousands of migrant workers are now at a higher risk of infection. Most of them work outdoors and lives in close-quarter dormitories, yet so many of them did not have access to masks, which puts them at risk of catching the COVID-19.
In efforts to give back to the society, we called out for volunteers who are able to sew 300 masks in 10 days, aiming to reach the target of 300,000 masks in total. Responses were overwhelming, we couldn't be thankful enough. These migrant workers built our roads, they constructed our home and offices, kept our streets and estates clean, they deserved to live in safety just like us.
The Effect.
We reached out to volunteers by Facebook, and it garnered hundreds of shares. Thousands of volunteers signed up, we provided them with masks kits and materials. With their help, we achieved our target of 300,000 masks and successfully donated them to the Migrant Workers' Centre.
We are thankful to the sewing warriors, the volunteer drivers, the hundreds of people who shared our call for volunteers on Facebook. Without your help, we would not be able to achieve this target and make this donation in time.
A big Thank You to everyone who volunteered, stay safe everyone.
