Frequent Flyer, Avgeek, and Always Dressed for Departure: Felix Wee

There are seasoned travellers — and then there’s Felix Wee. Known in aviation circles for his sharp reviews of airline cabins and his knack for uncovering the nuances between a decent flight and a stellar one, Felix has built a following of travel enthusiasts and industry insiders alike. Whether he’s trying out a new Business Class product or documenting a multi-city itinerary, his schedule is packed with take-offs, detailed observations, and highly anticipated posts.

But even in transit, one thing remains consistent: his style. Felix relies on CYC’s travel-ready tailoring — pieces designed to perform as well as they look. His go-to consultant, Ruys, understands the pace and polish Felix needs. While CYC doesn’t make up his entire wardrobe, the pieces they’ve created together are the ones he reaches for when the setting calls for a little more presence, a little more refinement — whether he’s in the air or on the ground.

You’ve experienced some of the world’s best airline cabins — what do you enjoy most about documenting those journeys, and what keeps it fun for you?

For me, it’s all about capturing the emotion of travel. Each journey always brings out excitement and anticipation (especially if it’s a new product that I have not flown on before) and no two flights are ever the same. I enjoy revisiting these memories and they also serve as a very good reference point to judge my next flight!

What keeps them fun is probably the constant evolution — airlines are always innovating, and in recent years, competition within the industry has gotten very intense.  I feel great joy in comparing the small nuances between products and seeing how different cultures express hospitality in the sky.

Between work at the world's most iconic luxury brand and your travel reviews, you're constantly shifting between roles. How do you dress to feel like yourself no matter the setting?

Great question — navigating different environments while staying true to your personal style can definitely be a challenge. For me, it really comes down to finding a few anchor pieces and building a versatile wardrobe around them. I prioritise comfort and practicality, so I tend to invest in items that transition well across different settings.

An example would be versatile pants that I own in a range of neutral colours — they’re dressy enough for more formal occasions but comfortable enough for casual wear. From there, I just rotate tops to match the tone of the day, whether I need something more relaxed or more refined. It’s about creating flexibility without overpacking or overthinking.

You’ve got a great eye for detail — both in what you wear and in how you review a flight. Do you think your work in the luxury industry has shaped that in any way?

Absolutely — working in the luxury industry sharpens your sensitivity to details. You’re constantly immersed in environments where everything is curated with intent: texture, stitching, hardware, service. Whether it’s tailoring in fashion or cabin design in aviation, luxury is built on the idea that every small element contributes to a greater sense of refinement.

So when reviewing something like a flight, especially in a premium cabin, that mindset carries over. You start noticing the stitching on the seat, the plating of the meal, the warmth (or lack thereof) in the crew’s service — not because you’re being tough, but because those little things are what differentiate a good experience from a truly exceptional one.

How did you get introduced to CYC, and what was your first experience like working with Ruys on something custom?

The process was actually quite straightforward. After university, I was looking for a well-fitted suit and decided to search online for the ‘best tailor in Singapore.’ CYC kept appearing in the results, so I figured it was definitely a place worth checking out.

I think my first experience with Ruys played a big role in building my loyalty to the CYC brand. He was incredibly detail-oriented and someone whose suggestions I could genuinely trust. I appreciated how he consistently recommended options that were both practical and timeless — qualities I really value.

At one point, I even asked him if he could replicate a pair of non-CYC pants I loved, and I was so impressed (and relieved!) when he said it was possible. That kind of service really stuck with me.

You mix in CYC pieces with the rest of your wardrobe — what role do they play for you, especially when you're packing for a trip?

When I’m packing, especially for trips that blend business, leisure, and a bit of unpredictability, my CYC pieces give me a sense of structure. They’re reliable, highly functional and they fit me so well.

Whether you're flying for business or leisure, is there something you always prioritise in what you wear on travel days?

Yup, definitely. Whether flying for business or leisure, comfort is always the top priority, but it’s about smart comfort. I would usually go for a comfortable and breathable T-shirt with the option of layering if it gets colder. For bottoms, they have to be stretchy and preferably wrinkle-resistant, so that after a long flight, I would still look decently put together.

Do you have a certain formula or mindset when packing for trips — especially when you need to balance comfort, style, and function all in one bag?

Yes I do! Everything I pack has to be intentional and I usually try my best to pack according to this simple formula:

1. Stick to neutral colours for the essentials or base layer as it makes mixing and matching way easier.

2. Bring functional layers to style up your outfit or simply to keep you warm when the temperature drops.

3. Bring “just in case” sets of clothing - There is always a possibility of a cancelled flight or a flight delay where you might have to spend an extra night at your destination and it pays to be very prepared. This has certainly served me well throughout my years of travels.

Being a national tennis player in the past, how has that experience influenced your travel routines or the discipline you apply to your personal style?

My background as a competitive athlete taught me to truly value preparation, efficiency, and the importance of recovery — all of which now shape how I travel.

Whether I’m heading out for work or leisure, I approach travel with the same mindset I had before a match: I pack with intention, stick to routines, and plan ahead to minimize stress. Efficiency shows up in everything from how I organize my bag to how I plan my trips — always aiming to conserve energy and stay focused. And recovery is just as important now as it was back then. Travel can be physically and mentally demanding, so I make it a priority to build in rest and maintain a consistent sleep routine, even during the busiest itineraries.

You spend a lot of time in motion — do you have any personal tips or routines that help you stay grounded and centred despite the constant travel and activity?

Yes, definitely! Even with a packed schedule, I try to keep a few constants in place — and they really help me stay clear-headed. The first is movement and downtime. I make time to exercise or just unwind, whether that’s a walk around the city, a session in a well-equipped hotel gym, or a swim if there’s a good pool available.

The second is sleep — and that’s non-negotiable for me. I’ve learned from experience that how I sleep directly impacts how I show up the next day, both mentally and physically. So no matter how busy things get, I do my best to protect that part of my routine.

Looking ahead, what’s one destination or airline you haven’t experienced yet that’s on your radar — and what would be your ideal outfit for that trip?

I’d love to try flying with Starlux Airlines and see how it compares against Singapore Airlines, an airline I deeply admire and respect for its consistent standards. I’ve heard great things about Starlux’s attention to detail, onboard service, and overall experience — it seems like they’ve really challenged the big players for premium travel in the region. I’m always interested in airlines that combine design, comfort, and hospitality in a thoughtful way.

For my outfit, I’m likely going to be wearing my 1935 by CYC T-shirt and my trusted joggers. It’s definitely a very comfortable combination!

What a Frequent Flyer Wears when every Hour Counts

Felix lives by a simple brief: clothes must earn their place in the carry-on. He relies on breathable shirting, trousers with stretch and jackets that hold a clean line after a red-eye. The result is quiet polish that never feels overbuilt. It is style that respects the check-in queue and the early call time, with choices that still look sharp in review photos and on the tarmac.

If you value details the way he does, let us build a wardrobe that stands up to your scrutiny. From wrinkle-resistant shirtings to crease-recovery wools, we will recommend options that keep their shape and make dressing simple. The result is ease you can trust, from check-in to last call.
