Your Wedding Suit Timeline: When to Book Your Tailor (and What Happens at Each Step)

"When should I come in?" It's one of the first questions every groom asks us, usually followed by a slightly nervous "...am I too late?" So let's answer it properly. With our actual production schedule, step by step, so you know exactly what happens after you walk in, how long each stage takes, and when to start so nothing is rushed.

The short answer: start about three months before your wedding. A made-to-measure suit takes around five and a half to six and a half weeks from confirmation to collection, and you'll want a comfortable buffer beyond that. Here's where all that time goes.

• Step 1 — Measurement appointment: choose fabric and design, get measured, confirm your order (one visit)

• Step 5 — Collection: try on the finished piece; if all is well, it goes home with you

• Buffer: +1–2 weeks if final alterations are needed; a second fitting (rare) adds 2.5–3 weeks

Before Anything: Come In For a Chat (No Commitment Needed)

Here's something most grooms don't know: you don't have to be ready to buy before you visit us.

If you're completely lost, no idea what colour, cut, or fabric you want, just drop by for a conversation. No deposit, no commitment. We'll talk through your wedding, show you fabrics, and guide you on what would work. Then you can go home, think it over with your partner, and come back for your measurement appointment ready to decide. Grooms who do this walk away far happier with their final suit, because the big decisions were made calmly instead of on the spot.

Step 1: The Measurement Appointment

This is the visit where it becomes real. You'll confirm your fabric and design, we'll take your measurements, and you'll place your order.

The measuring itself is quick — but it's more than numbers, and this is worth understanding. No two bodies are built the same. Shoulders slope at different angles. Some of us hunch slightly; others have a hollow back. Some arms swing a little forward when relaxed. A suit that fits you has to account for all of it — posture and proportion, not just chest and waist. It's also where your preferences come in: some men want a snug, sharp fit, others want ease and room. We note all of it down, because it changes how we cut.

Step 2: We Cut Your Fitting Suit (2.5–3 Weeks)

Once your order is confirmed, our workshop cuts and sews a semi-finished version of your suit. Real enough to wear, unfinished enough to still be adjusted.

This takes about two and a half to three weeks. You don't need to do anything during this time. When it's ready, we'll send you a WhatsApp message to arrange your fitting.

Step 3: The Fitting Session

You come in and put on the semi-finished suit. This is where the fit is judged on your body: how the shoulders sit, how the jacket falls, where the trousers break. Anything that needs refining gets pinned and noted on the spot.

Tailoring a suit doesn't mean it fits perfectly in one go. That's not how good tailoring works anywhere. The fitting exists precisely because posture and proportion only fully reveal themselves when the actual garment is on the actual man. It's a feature of the process, not a flaw.

The fitting takes well under an hour. Then the suit goes back to the workshop.

Step 4: We Complete Your Suit (3–3.5 Weeks)

With your fitting adjustments in hand, our tailors finish the suit properly. This takes another three to three and a half weeks. When it's done, you'll get a text that it's ready for collection.

Step 5: Collection — and the Honest Buffer

At collection, we fit you into the finished piece. If everything sits right, and most of the time it does, the suit goes home with you that day.

But we'd rather be honest about the exceptions than have you cut your timeline fine:

• If final alterations are needed, add 1–2 weeks. Small refinements after the finished fitting.

• If a second fitting is needed, add 2.5–3 weeks. This is rare, but some builds are genuinely more challenging to fit, and we won't hand over a wedding suit that isn't right.

This is why "about 6 weeks" and "start 3 months out" are different numbers. The gap is your insurance.

Working Backwards: Your Suit Checklist

Take your wedding date and count back:

• 3–4 months before: come in for the no-commitment chat; browse fabrics; decide with time to spare

• ~3 months before: measurement appointment: fabric, design, order confirmed

• ~2 months before: fitting session (we'll WhatsApp you when it's ready)

• ~1 month before: collect your finished suit, with weeks to spare, not days

• Wedding week: your suit is hanging ready, and you have one less thing to think about

If your wedding is sooner than three months away, don't panic, and don't assume it's too late. Come in and talk to us; depending on the month and the suit, it's often still workable. But the sooner, the calmer.
